SwissChaletMenu.net — Independent Canadian Restaurant Menu Reference
About the author
David S. Martin is a food writer and independent menu researcher based in Bloomfield, Connecticut. He created SwissChaletMenu.net to give Canadian diners a reliable, easy-to-navigate reference for Swiss Chalet’s menu, prices, and nutritional information — the kind of resource he found himself wanting but couldn’t find online. A full account of his background, writing, and research process is available on the David S. Martin author profile page. You can also find his food writing on Medium (@DavidSMartin132) ↗.
David has spent years studying how Canadian restaurant chains present their menus, communicate pricing, and update seasonal and limited-time offerings. His work on this site focuses on translating publicly available restaurant information into a format that is accurate, well-organised, and genuinely useful for everyday diners making real meal decisions.
My experience researching this site
I have been eating at Swiss Chalet for as long as I can remember. Growing up in Canada, it was the kind of restaurant that showed up at every family dinner, every hockey night, every occasion that called for something reliably good. When I got more serious about food writing and started paying closer attention to restaurant menus, I realised there was no straightforward, up-to-date reference for Swiss Chalet’s full menu anywhere online — just scattered forum posts, outdated PDFs, and screenshots of varying accuracy.
So I started building one myself. My research process involves cross-referencing the official Swiss Chalet website, in-restaurant menu boards and printed menus during personal visits, publicly available nutritional disclosure documents, and community reports from diners across different provinces. When I find a discrepancy between sources, I note it, investigate further, and only publish figures I am confident in. When Swiss Chalet updates their menu — a seasonal item, a price change, a new combo — I update this site to match as quickly as possible. Every page on this site reflects that ongoing, hands-on process rather than a one-time data entry.
